Ultram (tramadol) capsule is a prescription medicine used for the relief of moderate to severe pain. It belongs to a pain-relieving class of drugs called opioids. Tramadol 100MG Tablets cause addiction, therefore do not share this medicine with others if it is prescribed to you.

How does Ultram (Tramadol) capsule work?

Ultram (tramadol) shows analgesic properties by a dual mechanism, one is by binding with the mu-opioid receptors and the other is by inhibiting the neuronal reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin.

What do you need to know before taking Ultram (tramadol) capsule?

  • Do not take the Ultram capsule if you are allergic to tramadol.
  • Do not take Ultram capsules if you have acute alcohol poisoning or you are taking other pain relieving medicine, sleeping pills, monoamine oxidase inhibitors, or psychotropic medicines.
  • Do not take Ultram capsule if you are a drug addict or have a history of drug abuse.
  • Do not take the Ultram capsule if you are suffering from epilepsy.

Warnings and precautions

You must consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking Ultram (tramadol) capsule

  • If you have a consciousness disorder
  • If you are in a state of shock
  • If you have breathing problems
  • If you have renal or hepatic issues
  • If you are a drug addict

Interaction of Ultram (tramadol) capsule with other medicines.

Do not take Ultram capsules with MAO inhibitors. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you taking carbamazepine, or ondansetron as it reduces the effectiveness of the Ultram Capsule.

Avoid concomitant use or tell your doctor if you are taking the following medications before taking Tramadol 100MG Tablets :

  • Pain killers such as morphine as concomitant use with Ultram (tramadol) enhance the side effects such as drowsiness etc.
  • A tranquilizer or sleeping pill if used together with Ultram (tramadol) Capsule increases the risk of side effects such as drowsiness, difficulty in breathing, coma, etc.
  • Antidepressants or antipsychotics if used with Ultram (tramadol) capsules the risk of fits increase also you may experience involuntary and rhythmic contraction of muscles, agitation, sweating, tremor etc.
  • If you use anticoagulants along with Ultram capsule, the effect of blood clotting will decrease and you can experience bleeding as well.

 

Interaction of Ultram (tramadol) capsule with food and alcohol

Food has no significant effect on the efficacy of the Ultram (tramadol) Capsule but if you take alcohol with ultram (tramadol) capsule the effect may be exaggerated.

Use of Ultram (tramadol) capsule in children

Do not give Tramadol 100MG Tablets to your child if your child is suffering from breathing problems as the condition may become worse.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and fertility

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding a mother then do not take Ultram (tramadol) capsule as it is excreted in milk and also crosses the placenta, hence your baby experience withdrawal symptoms that needed treatment.

The use of Ultram (tramadol) does not affect the fertility of males or females.

Effect on the ability to drive or operate machines

You may feel drowsy or sleepy if you are taking the Tramadol 100MG Tablets. Therefore do not drive or operate machinery if you are taking Tramadol 100MG Tablets unless you become aware of how your body is responding to the medication.

How to take Ultram (tramadol) capsule?

Always take this medication exactly the way your doctor or pharmacist has told you.

Dosage:

The dosage depends upon the intensity of pain and sensitivity of the individual. The recommended dose of Ultram capsule is 50mg to 100mg at a 4-6 hour interval.

Method of administration

Take this capsule orally as a whole without opening it with a glass of water.

What if you take more Ultram (tramadol) Capsules than you should?

If you take a double dose mistakenly then you do not need to get worried about it as generally, it has no harmful effect but if you take a lot of Ultram capsules then you must immediately contact your doctor or rush to the nearby hospital or emergency department. The symptoms associated with overdose are: contraction of the pupil, drop in BP, unconsciousness, fits, breathing difficulty, etc.

What if you missed a dose of Ultram (tramadol) capsule?

If you missed your scheduled dose Ultram capsule then take it as soon as you remind it or take the next dose at its right time. Do not take a double dose in order to make up for the missed dose.

What if you want to stop taking Ultram (tramadol) capsules?

The duration of treatment must be decided by your doctor. Tramadol 100MG Tablets causes addiction and dependency therefore it causes withdrawal symptoms if you stop taking this medication suddenly. Your doctor will gradually lower the dose before stopping it in order to avoid the withdrawal effects.

Side Effects

The side effects associated with the use of Ultram (tramadol) Capsule are dizziness, nausea, drowsiness, headache, fatigue, constipation, dry mouth, sweating, etc.

How to store Ultram (Tramadol) capsule?

Keep Ultram (tramadol) capsule out of reach and sight of children. Store below 30oC. Do not take the Ultram capsule after the expiry date mentioned on the pack or blister strip.
